District 21 Schools
District 21 runs almost entirely on zoned public schools, with just a handful of charters in the mix and no private options to speak of. The academic numbers sit squarely in the middle of the pack for Brooklyn — state test proficiency lands in the low-60s for both subjects, and daily attendance hovers around 91%. What families will find is solid infrastructure: about half the schools offer ELL support, a dozen have world languages, and nine run AP courses. The program bench thins out a bit for STEM and arts — each at about four schools — though there is at least one audition-admit arts high school within the district lines for kids headed that direction.
