NYC's traditional public elementary and middle schools sit inside 32 Community School Districts (CSDs) — geographic zones where most seats are assigned by address. High schools admit citywide, so they aren't tied to where you live. Charters and private schools cross district lines; we list them inside whichever district they physically sit in, but they aren't governed by it.
